A 30-year-old female was sent to hospital yesterday after her vehicle collided with a hydro pole just east of Poplar Point in the RM of Portage la Prairie.
On August 23, 2011, at approximately 8:45am, Central Plains RCMP as well as Portage la Prairie Fire Department, Portage EMS and Manitoba Hydro were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle collision on Highway 26, just east of Poplar Point in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates that while traveling westbound on Highway 26, the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Venture lost control of the vehicle, rolled over into the ditch and hit a hydro pole. The hydro pole was knocked over on impact and landed on the vehicle.
Once Manitoba Hydro removed the hydro pole and hydro lines from on top of the vehicle, Portage Fire Department extracted the 30-year-old female driver who was the lone occupant in the vehicle. She was transported to hospital by Portage EMS with undetermined injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor and RCMP continue to investigate.
