A Piney woman has been charged with the attempted murder of her common-law husband this past week.
On August 26, 2011, shortly after 11:30pm, Sprague RCMP received a complaint from a 51-year-old male resident of the RM of Piney that he had awoken to the smell of propane gas in his residence.
Upon further inspection, he noticed that the smell was emanating from the stove. In an attempt to have the gas dissipate, a small explosion occurred and the complainant received minor non-life threatening injuries. No medical treatment was required. It was also noted by the complainant noticed that his common-law wife and all the pets were not in the residence and one of the family vehicles was gone.
Investigation by the RCMP Steinbach/Sprague Detachment, the RCMP Steinbach General Investigation Services with the assistance of the RCMP Winnipeg Major Crime Services resulted on August 27 to the arrest of the 47-year-old common-law wife from the RM of Piney.
She has been charged with attempted murder and has been remanded in custody to appear in Winnipeg on August 29, 2011.
