A 19 year-old male is facing charges after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with a pick-up truck this past week near the Asessippi Valley.

Russell and Roblin Detachments of the Prairie Mountain RCMP Area are currently investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and pick-up truck that occurred on October 8, 2011, at 4am on Highway 83 near the Asessippi Valley, North of Russell, Manitoba.

An 18-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a northbound truck while walking on the highway in a rural area. The victim was treated locally and later transported to the Winnipeg for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against a 19 year-old male who was arrested at the scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

Police continue to investigate.
