Around 11:30am on October 26, 2011, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP Detachment were advised of a truck being operated dangerously on 2nd Avenue N.E. heading towards the Dauphin high school.
Officers learned that the truck had been reported as stolen from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, just a few hours earlier.
An officer spotted the truck as it pulled into a parking lot near the high school and attempted to stop it. The driver fled by driving over a curb. The vehicle was followed onto nearby residential streets where the truck was abandoned after being driven onto the front lawn of a residence. The driver fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later hiding in some bushes.
A 16-year-old male from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous driving and flight from police. He has been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin on Monday, October 31, 2011.
