A 19-year-old man is dead after the vehicle he was in collided with a tree yesterday evening on Skownan FN.
On October 30, 2011, just before 8pm, Winnipegosis RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal single vehicle collision on Skownan FN.
Initial investigation indicates that a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north on PR 276 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
At this time it is believed that there were 5 occupants in the vehicle. One passenger, a 19-year-old man from Skownan FN was transported to hospital by ambulance were he was pronounced deceased. The name of the deceased will not be released.
Police say that the driver and remaining occupants were treated for undetermined injuries.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation. Alcohol is considered a factor in the collision at this time.
Police continue to investigate.
