A Winnipeg man is dead after his car collided with a tractor yesterday evening on a Saskatchewan road.
On November 2, 2011, at approximately 6:50pm, Esterhazy RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor that was towing a cultivator and a Chev Lumina.
The tractor was traveling north on a grid road when the Lumina, also traveling north, struck it from behind, colliding with the cultivator. Following the collision, the Lumina left the road and continued to travel for some distance in a field. Due to a crest in the roadway, the Lumina was out of sight of the driver of the tractor. The Lumina was eventually located approximately 1.5km from the scene of the motor vehicle collision in a shallow (2-3 ft) body of water.
The driver of the Lumina, a 50-year-old male from Winnipeg, Manitoba was deceased in the driver’s seat. Notification of next of kin has been completed but family has not consented to the release of the victims name.
RCMP report that the Esterhazy Fire Department and EMS also attended the scene.
