On March 07, 2009 RCMP Selkirk solved a graffiti problem that had affected several communities including the City of Selkirk, RM of St. Andrew’s, RM of St. Clements and possibly the City of Winnipeg.
Throughout 2008 RCMP Selkirk received several reports from concerned citizens advising of a unique facial character appearing on bridges, signs, businesses and residential property. RCMP recently received further information that the unique facial character was also being displayed on Face Book.
RCMP Selkirk were able to identify an 18-year-old man, a resident of the RM of St. Clements who admitted responsibility for the crimes. RCMP are not releasing the name of the man as he was a youth at the time of the offences and he has not been formally charged. The man has been referred to the Selkirk Justice Committee for extra-judicial measures.
RCMP Selkirk are soliciting the public’s assistance with identifying any locations where the unique graffiti may be present. If you have information please contact the RCMP Selkirk Detachment at (204)482-1222 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPP).
