Central Plains RCMP are asking the public for assistance in connection with an attempted robbery that occurred in Portage la Prairie last month.

On November 4, 2011, just after 10pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an attempted robbery just outside Mike’s Fifth Avenue Store in the 100 block of 5th Avenue NE in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Investigation revealed that just after closing the store, the owners were approached by a lone male brandishing a metal bar, demanding the male owner drop the bag he was carrying. As the owner did not drop the bag, the suspect fled northeast toward some houses.

Police say that no injuries were reported in relation to this incident.

The suspect was described as being male, between 5’7″ and 5’8″, approximately 180 lbs, wearing dark coloured clothing and a ski mask that covered his face.

Anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact the Central Plains RCMP at 857-4445 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Police continue to investigate.
