Carman Area RCMP have completed an almost 4 year long investigation, resulting in the arrest and conviction of Douglas Sinclair for 7 counts of break, enter and theft.
This was done with the assistance of the RCMP Winnipeg Major Crime Unit, the Forensic Identification Unit, Steinbach RCMP, Emerson RCMP and Oakbank RCMP.
DNA evidence collected by the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit was crucial in the completion of this investigation. The result of the DNA evidence was a positive match to Douglas Sinclair. He was subsequently arrested on July 21, 2011.
The span of the break and enters that he was arrested for was from March 1, 2000 until December 31, 2008.
The break, enter and thefts that occurred in the Carman area were. The MLCC Liquor store in Carman, the Carman Golf and Curling Club, the 5 Pin Bowling Alley, and the True Value Hardware store. The combined value of items stolen and damage done exceeds $90,000.
RCMP report that Douglas Sinclair was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
