The RM of De Salaberry has decided to develop a snow removal policy to address issues throughout the municipality.

Under the new policy, the municipality will ensure that all dirt gravel roads, bus routes, and any major roads are considered priority snow routes. This means that all roads will be cleared in a timely manner.

In addition, the new policy addresses the opening of a dirt road for the use of one of their landowners.

“The municipality will agree to open up a stretch of road that is not regularly maintained for a farmer only once per winter season to provide access to grain bins and hay stacks,” said council. “Council will decide on how they wish to proceed with special requests for ongoing road opening.”

The municipality agreed to handle these requests on a priority basis.

The re-opening of these roads after the initial opening may be considered custom work and will be billed to the ratepayer, council added.

The new policy is expected to expedite the snow removal process and prevent misuse by ratepayers.
