Central Plains RCMP are asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle and driver involved in a collision earlier this month near Oakville, Manitoba.

On Monday, December 12, 2011, just before 6pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Highway 1 at Road 23 West, which is approximately 2 miles east of Oakville, Manitoba.

Investigation revealed that a semi-trailer was heading south on Road 23 and turning east onto Highway 1, when it stopped momentarily across the eastbound lanes on the highway. A 2011 Ford Escape, which was traveling eastbound on Highway 1, collided into the right rear end of the semi-trailer. The driver of the semi-trailer failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

The 59-year-old female driver and the 15-year-old female passenger of the Ford Escape, both from Punnichy, Saskatchewan, were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The semi-trailer was described as being a possible grain truck with numerous lights on the truck and no lights on the trailer. The trailer may have suffered damage to the rear right side.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect vehicle and driver. Anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact the Central Plains RCMP at 857-4445 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
