The Town of Niverville council recently discussed what they would like to see in the community when it comes to policing.

The RCMP asked the community to document a list to be incorporated within the overall objectives of the St. Pierre RCMP detachment.

According to Mayor Greg Fehr, council reviewed ongoing police activity over the past 12 months and came up with some positive changes.

“We want to see enhanced traffic enforcement with the goal to reduce the number of accidents and compliance with the Highway Traffic Act,” stated Fehr. “We’d also like to see an enhancement in education.”

Council hopes that with improved education there will be a reduction in the number of opportunities for break-ins in the community and theft would decrease significantly.

Now that the town has determined the type of police activity they’d like to see in the community, the issue will be taken to the St. Pierre RCMP for their consideration.
