The Town of Niverville hopes to take advantage of a provincial government grant that is specifically available for beautification projects.

According to town council, an application has been made to Hometown Manitoba for a grant to support the development of a play area within Hespler Park, as well as further development of the Crow Wing Trail.

Hometown Manitoba is a program under the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) that provides up to $5,000 toward the improvement and/or enhancement to outdoor public areas in a community.

In addition, the province recently announced an additional $5,000 in grants that is available to municipalities or town organizations to help plant trees in public areas.

The program also offers up to $1,000 for non-profit organizations or small businesses that look to enhance or improve exterior building appearance or signage.
