On January 13, 2012, at about 5:20pm, Brandon RCMP Detachment and the local area Fire and EMS responded to a collision involving a semi and a minivan at the junction of Highway 1 and PR 340.
RCMP report that the collision resulted in the death of the female driver of the minivan. Two children, who were also in the minivan at the time, were taken to hospital. One of two children was medivaced in critical condition. The other child is in stable but guarded condition.
The male driver of the semi was unharmed.
Police say that the collision occurred when the female driver, who was traveling north on Provincial Road 340, proceeded to go west on Highway 1 as the driver of the semi was travelling west on Highway 1.
RCMP Brandon Detachment continue to investigate in collaboration with the Criminal Crash Investigation Team and an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist.
