On February 5, 2012, at approx 12pm, Thompson Rural RCMP Detachment were dispatched to a suspicious death at the Split Lake First Nation Nursing Station.
Investigation revealed that an adult male had been transported from his residence to the nursing station and succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Elijah Alex Garson, a resident of Split Lake First Nation.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Winnipeg on February 7, 2012.
Police say that two suspects, an adult male and a male youth, have been identified and arrested.
RCMP Major Crime Services along with Thompson Forensic Identification Section and RCMP Thompson Detachment continue to investigate this matter.
