The RM of Ste. Anne will look for support in their bid to establish a regional waste water disposal system in the area.

Currently most areas and developments in the RM of Ste Anne are served by septic fields or holding tanks, with sewage hauled to the municipal lagoon. However, the existing municipal lagoon does not have adequate storage capacity to meet the growing needs of the population, noted council.

The RM of Ste. Anne has proposed the construction of a regional wastewater treatment lagoon expansion and force main.

“The municipality will seek a proactive method to address concerns with septic fields,” confirmed Reeve Art Bergmann. “The project will not likely proceed without assistance with funding.”

Part of the plan would include the Richer Sewer Collection System Project which would provide a regional sewage collection and treatment system for current residents in and between the Town of Ste Anne and the LUD of Richer.

As explained by the municipality, the proposed project would provide a piped pressure sewage collection system within the LUD of Richer, which would eliminate the need for septic fields in this area.

In order to take the project to the next step, the RM of Ste. Anne has applied for funding assistance for an expansion of the regional wastewater treatment lagoon, which provides a regional treatment system.

The RM of Ste. Anne has also asked for a letter of support from the Town of Ste. Anne for the expansion of the community lagoon.
