On February 18, 2012, just after 3am, Brandon RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two vehicle collision on Highway 10, 1 km south of Highway 2 in the RM of Oakland.
Initial investigation indicates that a 1999 Honda Civic and a 1988 Chevrolet Corsica were in a head-on collision. RCMP report that there was a total of three occupants in the vehicles, all are deceased.
Police say that there were two occupants in the Chevrolet Corsica, tentatively identified as an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old man, both from Brandon. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
Also reported was one occupant in the Honda Civic, tentatively identified as a 26-year-old man from the City of Winnipeg. He was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were no other persons or vehicles involved. An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation.
Alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor in this collision as the investigation continues.
