A 19-year-old male of Long Plain FN is facing numerous charges in connection with a truck theft that occurred earlier this week in the Headingly area.

Early in the morning of March 13, 2012, Portage la Prairie RCMP had received a report from Headingly RCMP to be on the lookout for a black GMC truck that had been stolen from the Headingly area. Police on patrol observed a truck matching the vehicle description, traveling westbound on Highway 1 near Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

The suspect vehicle failed to stop when police activated their emergency equipment and led Police in a pursuit which ended on a dirt road off of Yellowquill Trail at Dakota Tipi FN where the vehicle had stalled. The driver of the vehicle then fled on foot. Police apprehended the suspect after a short foot chase.

The 19-year-old male driver, Jordan Myran of Long Plain FN, was charged with flight from police, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, obstructing a police officer and mischief. He has been remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on March 19, 2012.

Police continue to investigate.
