On March 21, 2012, at about 4pm, The Pas RCMP were dispatched to an unresponsive male found by a civilian on the sidewalk portion of Bignell bridge on Highway 10 near The Pas.
An RCMP member arrived first on scene and realized that the individual in question had no pulse and was clearly not breathing. Additional units and EMS were summoned to assist. The member began CPR when two additional detachment members arrived. The trio continued CPR until EMS arrived and took over.
Police say that the man was transported to local hospital where he was eventually revived and began breathing on his own. Medical personnel believe that the quick actions of RCMP members was key to the man’s survival.
The 65-year-old local area man was later transported to Winnipeg hospital where he remains for continued treatment.
