On March 19, 2009, following an investigation that began in the fall of 2008, the RCMP Winnipeg Serious Crime Unit arrested and charged 38-year-old Denis Jerome Labossiere with three counts of counseling to commit murder.

Between December 27, 2007 and July 19, 2008, while released on Parole at a halfway house in Winnipeg and while incarcerated at Stony Mountain Institution, Labossiere counseled another inmate to kill his nephew Daniel Labossiere, his sister Nicole Labossiere-Clark and a friend Brian Brisson.

The three intended targets of these offences, who are Winnipeg residents, were never harmed in any way.

In May 2008, Denis Jerome Labossiere was charged by the RCMP for three counts of 1st Degree Murder and three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in relation to the murders of his parents and brother in November 2005 near St. Leon, Manitoba. Those charges remain before the court.

Labossiere is currently an inmate at the Stony Mountain Institution. He remains in custody and appeared in Winnipeg Court on March 20, 2009.
