Just after 2am on April 21, 2012, Central Plains RCMP made an arrest in relation to an impaired driving incident. Portage la Prairie Police Dog Service, Manitoba Hydro and Portage la Prairie Fire Department assisted in the investigation.

Police on patrol observed a 2001 GMC Sierra driving erratically on Lorne Avenue East in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

With the assistance of Portage la Prairie Police Dog Service the driver was located and apprehended a short distance away.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was impaired while operating the motor vehicle.

The 27-year-old male driver from Portage la Prairie was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief. He has since been released and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on May 28, 2012.

Police continue to investigate.
