The Canadian 4-H Council is pleased to announce a new, three-year partnership that brings Cargill onboard as the lead partner for the National 4-H Citizenship Seminar held annually in Ottawa.
As lead partner of the program, Cargill has donated $30,000 each year for the next three years. The seminar, which has been held since 1972, gives senior 4-H delegates the opportunity to travel to Ottawa and learn about governance, political procedures, and the rights and responsibilities of being a Canadian citizen.
“The National 4-H Citizenship Seminar is one of our most popular program opportunities for 4-H members across Canada,” said Bob McAuley, president of the Canadian 4-H Council. “Feedback from the seminar has always been extremely positive. Members, chaperons, and parents all remark on the fantastic experiences that this seminar provides.”
The National 4-H Citizenship Seminar is held in the spring of each year, and brings delegates to Ottawa. In 2009, more than 50 delegates will be traveling to Ottawa between March 27 and April 2. They will attend a citizenship ceremony, question period, tour Parliament Hill, meet their representative Members of Parliament, and enjoy the many sights that Ottawa has to offer.
“The mission of the Canadian 4-H Council is to provide initiatives that inspire youth to become contributing leaders in their communities,” McAuley continued. “Through the National 4-H Citizenship Seminar, the Canadian 4-H Council can help
