On May 30, 2012 shortly after 4:15pm, Cross Lake RCMP members were dispatched to a collision involving a young child being hit by a vehicle.

RCMP arrived on scene where a child was found deceased. The child, just about 2-years-old, was identified as girl from Cross Lake FN.

Early indications are that the girl was playing outside at the neighbour’s residence when she was fatally hit by a sewer truck driven by a 38-year-old local man.

An RCMP Reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene and the investigation into the sequence of events continues. Police say that alcohol is not considered a factor.
