On June 4, 2012, at 8:50pm, the Parkland RCMP Detachment along with the Dauphin Fire Department and EMS, responded to a single vehicle rollover, 25 km south of Dauphin in the Riding Mountain National Park on Highway 10.
RCMP report that a northbound car had run off the road and rolled into the ditch. A 20-year-old-male passenger from Dauphin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other male passengers and the 17-year-old driver, received non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the Dauphin Hospital.
The Parkland RCMP Detachment continues to investigate the crash with the assistance of the RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team and the RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Police say that alcohol, excessive speed and a lack of seat belts are believed to be factors in the collision.
