Following an investigation by the Nelson House RCMP, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at a residence in the Community of Nisichawayasihk FN Reserve.
On July 31,2012, officers from Nelson House, Thompson Detachment and the RCMP Thompson Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, searched the residence where 14 individually packed grams of marijuana and $800 in cash was seized. Ten 500 ml water bottles filled with diluted whisky were also seized.
Police say that the estimated street value of the drugs is about $280 and the estimated street value of the alcohol is about $300.
23-year-old Richard Sinclair of Nisichawayasihk FN Reserve was arrested and charged under the CDSA for possession of for the purpose of trafficking. Sinclair is also facing charges under the criminal code for proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of alcohol for resale under the Liquor Control Act.
20-year-old Harris Spence of Nisichawayasihk FN Reserve was arrested and charged under the CDSA for possession of for the purpose of trafficking. Spence is also facing charges under criminal code for possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of alcohol for resale under the Liquor Control Act.
An 18-year-old female of Nisichawayasihk FN Reserve was also arrested at the scene. She is being investigated for charges under the CDSA and the Liquor Control Act.
Sinclair and Spence remain in police custody pending a court appearance in Thompson on August 7, 2012. The 18-year-old female was released with a Promise to Appear for September 24, 2012 in Nelson House.
