At 8:15am, on September 13, 2012, Blue Hills area RCMP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision that had just occurred on PR 340 near the community of Sprucewoods.

It was determined that a southbound 1999 Dodge Durango crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a northbound 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Durango continued on after the collision and was located a short time later parked in the drivers yard in Sprucewoods.

The 34-year-old male driver of the Durango who resides in Sprucewoods, has been charged under the Highway traffic act with failing to remain at the scene of a collision as well as careless driving. Police say that this individual did not sustain serious injuries but was taken to the hospital for precautionary examination.

The occupants in the Cavalier, a 25-year-old female and her two children, aged 6 months and 2 years, were also taken to the hospital for precautionary examinations.

Investigation has determined that driver fatigue was the main contributing factor in this crash.
