Shortly after 4am on October 28, 2012, officers from the Dauphin RCMP detachment were advised of a theft incident that involved a truck and cattle trailer.

RCMP received information that the theft had just occurred near Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba and that the owner of the truck was following it towards Dauphin.

Police located the stolen vehicle on PTH 20, approximately 11 kms east of Dauphin. The truck was stopped and while the driver was being arrested, the passenger fled on foot.

The Police Dog Service from Dauphin was called in to assist in the search for the passenger. He was located a short time later inside a shed of a nearby farmyard and was arrested without incident. The driver was taken to the Dauphin RCMP detachment where breath tests showed his blood alcohol concentration to be over the legal limit.

22-year-old Kain Cody Wagner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been charged with theft of a truck, impaired driving and breach of probation. 21-year-old Matthew Allen Sutherland of Winnipeg has been charged with theft of a truck, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.
