On November 20, 2012, at 6:45pm, Beausejour and Oakbank RCMP, along with local area EMS, responded to a head-on collision on Highway 44, just east of Garson, Manitoba.

RCMP report that a car traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 44, just east of Garson, collided with an eastbound pick-up truck. Early indications are that the car was traveling in the wrong lane for a few miles before the collision occurred.

Both occupants of the car, a male driver and a female passenger, perished in the collision. The driver and passenger, husband and wife, were identified as an 88-year-old man and 85-year-old woman from the RM of St. Clements.

The pick-up truck driver, a 29-year-old man from Tyndall, was air lifted to hospital with undetermined injuries.

An RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist was dispatched to assist with the ongoing investigation. Alcohol is not considered a factor in this collision.
