On December 13, 2012, at about 5:30pm, Selkirk RCMP as well as emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 9 at the junction of Highway 44.
Investigation has revealed that a northbound 2003 Dodge Caravan, collided with a 2010 Nissan Rogue that was traveling south on Highway 9.
RCMP report that there were a total of three occupants in the van. All occupants were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. A male youth, identified as a seven-year-old boy from the RM of St. Andrews, was reported to have serious, undetermined injuries. He later was pronounced deceased in hospital.
Police say that road conditions were reported to be slippery at the time of the collision. An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
