Keystone Agricultural Producers is reminding snowmobilers to use caution when crossing farmers’ lands due to the high number of grain-filled bags located on fields this year. The bags, which are white and fairly large, blend into the snow and are often hard to see.
“It’s always important to ask farmers for permission to enter their fields with snowmobiles,” said KAP president Doug Chorney. “However, this year, with the increasing popularity of grain bags for storage, that courtesy becomes a safety issue.”
“By speaking to the farmer, a snowmobiler will be able to find out where the bags are located, and avoid using these areas.”
