On April 17, 2009 Portage la Prairie RCMP received a complaint of a stolen vehicle from 9th St. SW just south of Saskatchewan Ave.

A black Ford pick up truck was stolen sometime over the night. The truck was parked in the owner’s driveway, and the vehicle did not have an immobilizer or any other anti-theft devices in use.

RCMP responded to four other calls in the city in regards to attempted vehicle thefts. Two incidents occurred in the 400 block of 7th St. NW, one in the 500 block of 6th St. NW and another in the 100 block of 9th St. NW which involved snowmobiles and a trailer. All occurred sometime over the night. The trailer and snowmobiles were recovered a few blocks away.

The RCMP would like to the community to use anti-thefts devices if they have them, to not leave valuables in the vehicle or to at least hide them from sight and to secure any recreational vehicles. If anyone hears or sees suspicious activity please call the RCMP.

Anyone with information about these, or any other incidents are asked to contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 857-4445 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
