On March 12, 2013, shortly after 12:30 pm, Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Highway 1 in the RM of Ste. Anne, about a mile east of the Highway 12 junction.

RCMP report that a westbound car on Highway 1, driven by an adult male, proceeded south on Caledonia road when it collided with an eastbound SUV on Highway 1.

Police say that the male driver of the vehicle was life flighted to a Winnipeg Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition. The occupants of the SUV, a 45-year-old female driver and her two children of Kenora, Ontario, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were all treated and released.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Alcohol is not considered a contributing factor in this incident.
