In celebration of the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ 20th anniversary, the Province of Manitoba has joined the club to proudly unveil its new, specialty licence plate. This announcement was made by Justice Minister Andrew Swan, minister responsible for Manitoba Public Insurance.
“Entering their 20th year, the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ success continues to grow, firmly establishing the organization as a cornerstone in our province’s sporting community,” said Swan. “There’s an air of excitement and optimism surrounding the baseball club as it comes off a championship season. To show support of their team, Goldeyes fans now have the opportunity to purchase this unique licence plate.”
The new Goldeyes plate has a distinctive gold colour with blue lettering. This one-of-kind plate also displays the iconic Winnipeg Goldeyes logo. Manitobans wanting a plate can complete an application at any of the province’s 300 Autopac outlets. The new plates will cost $70, with $30 from every plate purchase going towards the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ Field of Dreams Foundation.
“The Goldeyes and our Field of Dreams Foundation thank both the government and Manitoba Public Insurance for providing our team and our foundation with this opportunity,” said Andrew Collier, general manager, Winnipeg Goldeyes. “Over the past few years many of our fans have inquired about a Goldeyes plate. Now, they can proudly show their support of the Goldeyes on their vehicles.”
Manitoba Public Insurance, which administers the province’s specialty plate program, worked closely with the Winnipeg Goldeyes and other stakeholders to ensure the specialty licence plate reflected the proud history of baseball in the province and of the Goldeyes’ franchise, Swan said.
