A local area man is facing impaired driving charges after Steinbach RCMP found him operating a vehicle while his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.

On May 4, 2013, at approximately 3am, Steinbach RCMP were conducting patrols in the City of Steinbach. During one of the patrols, police observed an intoxicated person standing near his vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot in Steinbach. Police warned the male that he should not be driving his vehicle due to his level of intoxication. The male advised that he was not driving and that he had a sober driver.

Approximately 5 minutes later, police located this same vehicle driving on McKenzie Avenue in Steinbach. Police observed the vehicle swerving in the lane and pulled the vehicle over to check the sobriety of the driver. As the vehicle pulled over, it collided into the curb and came to a stop. Police observed it to be the same person that they had warned just moments earlier.

RCMP report that an adult male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle over .08. The male is set to appear in Steinbach Provincial Court at a later date.
