Swan River Region

A flood warning continues for the Swan River including the town of Swan River as well as lowlying areas along the Souris River. A flood warning is issued when river levels are exceeding the banks and a flood is expected or occurring.

The Swan River at the town of Swan River is near flood stage and continues to rise. Water levels upstream from the town are beginning to decline and the crest is expected to reach the townsite within 24 hours.

The town has used sandbags and flood tubes provided by the province to protect properties in the community and continues to closely monitor the river. The community is also implementing its own flood response plan.

Souris River and Pipestone Creek

A flood watch is in place for Pipestone Creek and the Souris River from the U.S. border to Hartney. A flood watch is issued when river levels approach the bank and are likely to overflow.

Flows on Pipestone Creek at Pipestone are high and continuing to rise. Water levels on the Souris River continue to rise from the U.S. border to the town of Hartney. Low-lying areas may flood but water levels are forecast to remain below the flood protection levels of communities along the Souris River.

Lakes

There is a moderate risk of ice pileup on Lake Winnipeg, Lake Winnipegosis and Pelican Lake due to forecast strong winds from the north this evening and tomorrow.
