On May 17, 2013, at approximately 10:30pm, Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Highway 52 at Keating Road in the City of Steinbach.

Investigation determined that a pick-up truck carrying two adult males was traveling south off of Keating Road when it proceeded to cross Highway 52 in the path of a westbound car. The car was driven by an adult male with two other youths in the vehicle.

RCMP report that all occupants in both vehicles were treated at scene by Emergency personnel and one youth was transported to the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was arrested on scene by police for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Subsequent breath samples provided by the driver resulted in readings more than double the legal limit. An adult male is facing charges of impaired driving, driving over 80 mg% as well as charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police say that alcohol and driver inattention was a factor in this collision.
