Shortly after 8:00 p.m. April 23, 2009, Police, Fire, and Ambulance personnel were called to the Dauphin Fair Grounds as the grandstands were on fire.

The structure was destroyed by the fire. The investigation is being conducted by the Dauphin RCMP with the assistance from the Dauphin Fire Department and the Office of the Fire Commissioner and is being treated as an arson.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 622-5020.

A 14 year old boy from the Pine Creek First Nation is being charged with Arson for starting the fire that destroyed the grandstand. The youth was arrested at his home on Thursday May 7, 2009 and has since been released from custody on a Promise to Appear in Dauphin Court on May 27, 2009.

The youth was living in Dauphin at the time of the fire.

The investigation continues.
