A 28-year-old man suffered only minor injuries after driver fatigue caused him to roll his vehicle into the Little Souris River.
On June 14, 2013, at approximately 5am, RCMP and emergency responders from Brandon were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle rollover.
Police investigation has determined that a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 pick-up, traveling north on Highway 10, left the driving surface, entered the west ditch and rolled into the Little Souris River.
RCMP report that the 28-year-old male driver and lone occupant, was able to remove himself from the overturned and completely submerged truck and walk to a local farm yard, where he was able to call 911.
The driver, from the Laurier, Manitoba area, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he received treatments for minor injuries and was released.
Investigation has determined that the main factor in the rollover is attributed to the driver falling asleep behind the wheel. RCMP continue to investigate with charges under the Highway Traffic Act being contemplated.
