RCMP recently seized a quantity of marijuana and cash while investigating a speeding incident near Pisew Falls, Manitoba.
On June 21, 2013, at about 4:30pm, North District RCMP Traffic Services, based out of Cranberry Portage, were on patrol northbound on Highway 6, about 14 km north of Pisew Falls. Officers observed a vehicle speeding while passing the unmarked police car.
Police say that the vehicle was stopped. An odour of marijuana was detected by the officer. Subsequent investigation resulted in 50 lbs of marijuana seized from the vehicle and $1,750 cash. It is believed that the drugs seized were destined for the City of Thompson.
RCMP report that the driver was identified as 53-year-old Dawn Perzylo of Thompson. Perzylo was arrested and escorted to Thompson RCMP Detachment.
With the assistance of Thompson RCMP General Investigation Services, Perzylo has since been charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as possessing proceeds of crime under the Criminal Code.
Dawn Perzylo has been remanded in custody to appear in Thompson Court.
