On the evening of July 10, 2013, Officers from the Dauphin RCMP detachment interrupted a robbery in progress at a local apartment.

While RCMP officers were at a Dauphin hotel around 10:30pm on an unrelated matter, their attention was drawn to what sounded like a physical fight coming from the floor above.

Police investigation lead officers to an apartment. After knocking on the door, a male answered and advised police that everything was ok. The officers could see an elderly man laying on the floor.

RCMP investigated further and determined that the man who answered the door had been invited into the apartment and once inside, asked the elderly man for money. When he was told he had no money, he grabbed the elderly man and threw him around. He then started going through drawers looking for money. When arrested, the suspect had several containers of beer in the sleeves of his jacket.

RCMP report that 22-year-old Jerome Stanley Cook of Dauphin, has been charged with robbery and has been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin.

Police say that the 73-year-old victim was treated at scene by EMS personnel.
