On July 22, 2013, just before 9:30pm, Headingley RCMP, the Headingley RCMP Traffic Services and area EMS responded to a report of a collision between a semi and a pick-up truck. The collision was reported to have occurred on Highway 1 in the RM of Headingley, close to the John Blumberg Golf Course.

RCMP report that the driver of the pick-up truck, identified as a 21-year-old Winnipeg man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi, identified as a 33-year-old Edmonton man, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was released from care and is currently in police custody.

The investigation into the collision continues with the assistance an RCMP Traffic Analyst.
