Just before 10:30pm on July 27, 2013, while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana.
Police on patrol observed a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic on Highway 1 in the Rural Municipality of North Norfolk, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as the driver was exceeding the posted speed limit.
Subsequent investigation revealed that one occupant in the vehicle was in possession of approximately 29 grams of marijuana and a sum of cash.
Charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime is 24-year-old David Heigi Debrecen from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Debrecen has been released from custody, and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on September 9, 2013.
