A Portage la Prairie man is facing drug possession charges after recently being found to be in possession of marijuana.

Just before 2:30am on July 27, 2013, while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana.

Police on patrol observed a 2010 Ford Econoline Cargo Van on Highway 1 in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as the driver was exceeding the posted speed limit by 36 kph.

Subsequent police investigation revealed that driver of the vehicle was in possession of approximately 28 grams of marijuana.

RCMP report that 37-year-old Christopher Ryan Lilley from Portage la Prairie, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. Lilley is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on September 9, 2013.
