On April 29, 2009 at about 1 a.m., members of the RCMP Manitoba Traffic Services – East Selkirk Office, conducted a vehicle check on an eastbound semi tractor trailer on the #1 Highway just east of Winnipeg.
As a result of a roadside investigation and a subsequent search of the vehicle, approximately 60 pounds of raw cannabis marijuana was seized along with the tractor trailer unit with Ontario plates.
The occupants, which included the 34-year-old male driver from Ontario and two adult male passengers respectively from Ontario and British Columbia, were arrested and charged with possession for purpose of trafficking pursuant to the controlled drugs and substances act.
The trio were released on Promise to Appear to appear in on May 28th in Winnipeg.
