On August 24, 2013, shortly before 4pm, Headingley RCMP Traffic Services, Carman RCMP, along with area EMS and Fire were dispatched to the scene of a three car collision on Highway 3, just south of Brunkild in the RM of Macdonald.
Police say that a 22-year-old Winnipeg man was travelling north on Highway 3, about four kilometres south of Brunkild, when for reasons that have yet to be determined, the vehicle drifted in the southbound lane, side-swiped one vehicle and collided head-on with the vehicle behind it which was driven by a 48-year-old male of Hochfeld, Manitoba.
RCMP report that both the 22-year-old and the 48-year-old drivers perished in the collision. Three additional people, two adults and young child, were transported to hospital in critical condition.
RCMP continue to investigate.
