On August 25, 2013, at approximately 10:15pm, Blue Hills area RCMP and emergency responders from Brandon were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle collision, one kilometre west of Brandon on Highway 1 at Rugby road.
Investigation indicates that a southbound 2004 Chrysler Sebring, operated by a 17-year-old Brandon male, was traveling south on Rugby Road when it proceeded to cross Highway 1. The car was then struck by a westbound 2007 Chevrolet pick-up, which was being driven by a 46-year-old male from the Altona area.
Police say that the 17-year-old driver of the Sebring was transported to the Brandon General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the pick-up and his 20-year-old female passenger from Winnipeg, both received minor injuries.
Blue Hills area RCMP with the assistance of a RCMP collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
