RCMP have received a number of reports of individuals receiving phone calls advising them that they have won a prize and then prompting them to enter their credit card information.

Police are warning residents to be aware of this potential scam and to keep their personal information protected. Residents should remember to refrain from providing credit card or banking information over the phone. As well remember to not be pressured to send money to claim a prize.

RCMP remind the public to keep in mind that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The public can contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 to lodge a complaint or visit their website at www.antifraudcentre.ca for more information on fraud prevention tips.
