On August 30, 2013, at about 10pm, Mafeking Fire Department, Parkland EMS and Swan River RCMP, responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian along Highway 10 in Mafeking, MB.

Police investigation shows that a northbound 1998 Mecury Sable, driven by a 35-year-old female, struck a 16-year-old male pedestrian of Indian Birch Indian Reserve. The pedestrian was transported with a severe, non-life threatening condition to Swan River Health Centre and was later sent to another facility for further assessment.

RCMP report that speed does not appear to be a factor and that the female driver was sober at the time of the incident. Alcohol may have been a distracting factor with the pedestrian.

Swan River RCMP and the RCMP Traffic Services Traffic Analyst continue to investigate this incident.
