A Steinbach man is facing numerous charges, including dangerous driving, after being apprehended by police this past week.
On September 12, 2013 at around 5pm, Steinbach RCMP were called to assist the Ste. Anne Police in the RM of Hanover. Police say that a lone 22-year-old man was pulled over in Ste. Anne as a result of not having licence plates on his 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The man produced his licence and registration for the vehicle. Subsequent checks by Ste. Anne Police showed the driver was suspended. When the officer went back to talk with the male, he sped off in his vehicle at a high rate of speed. The subject began to drive dangerously forcing cars off the road and passing when it was not safe in an attempt to evade police.
Steinbach RCMP were called to assist with locating the male subject. Steinbach RCMP subsequently located the male at his residence in Steinbach along with his automobile.
RCMP report that the 22-year-old man was arrested and faces charges of flight from police, dangerous driving and driving while suspended. The vehicle driven by the accused was impounded for 30 days.
