A Town of Leaf Rapids employee is facing numerous fraud-related charges in connection to recent suspicious banking activities.

On August 23, 2013, Leaf Rapids RCMP were contacted by the Town of Leaf Rapids and advised of suspicious banking activities on their account.

A police investigation began and revealed that between July 9 and July 15, 2013, two Town of Leaf Rapids cheques were stolen, forged and cashed totaling about $2,100.

RCMP report that 34-year-old William Horodecki of Leaf Rapids has been charged with two counts of fraud, two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of forgery and two counts of using a forged document. Horodecki has been released on a promise to appear in Leaf Rapids court on November 7, 2013.

Police say that Horodecki was an employee of the Town of Leaf Rapids when this matter came to light.
